Google Data Help

Gmail content does not reach Sutok-operated infrastructure. This page explains the local and user-controlled boundaries behind that promise.

Connecting Google

Choose Connect Google account in Sutok. The app first shows a focused disclosure of the data it needs and how it is used. Google authorization does not start until you choose Sign in with Google; Cancel closes the disclosure without opening OAuth.

Sutok then checks local storage protection. If the check passes, your browser opens Google’s own consent page. Your Google password is entered with Google, not Sutok, and the resulting refresh token is stored in the macOS Keychain.

Data Sutok accesses

Messages, attachments, Drafts, and Folders

Sutok uses the Gmail permission to read and search messages and attachments; change read state and folder placement; archive and trash mail; create, update, and delete drafts; and send messages you compose. Sent mail travels through Gmail to the recipients you choose.

Gmail content is not sent to Sutok-operated storage, analytics, AI, crash-reporting, cloud-sync, or support-upload systems.

Local storage and encryption

Sutok mirrors Gmail data into its local database and attachment folders on your Mac. Its profile directories and persistent files use owner-only permissions.

Before connecting Gmail, Sutok requires FileVault to protect the startup volume holding your home folder and logs. It also inspects the actual volume holding Sutok data. A custom or external data location must be on a password-encrypted volume; an unknown, changing, or error state blocks authorization until protection can be established.

Remote images and network routing

Remote images are fetched from their hosts only when you load them or have allowed them for a sender. Those hosts can observe the request in the ordinary way.

Mail traffic connects directly to your provider unless you configure a SOCKS5 proxy or SSH tunnel. In that case, provider traffic follows the user-configured route.

Backups

Sutok excludes its re-downloadable received-attachment cache and disposable logs from ordinary Time Machine backup where macOS and the filesystem permit. The database and Draft attachments remain eligible because they can contain unique drafts, outbox work, snoozes, meeting responses, and preferences.

FileVault does not encrypt an independent backup destination. Encrypt Time Machine and other external backups yourself, and remove old backup copies according to the tools and retention rules you control.

Remove an Account from this Mac

Settings → Accounts → Remove account stops synchronization and starts durable cleanup. Sutok removes that account’s messages, threads, bodies, folder memberships, search index, account-scoped preferences, downloaded attachments, draft attachments, cached UI data, mixed logs, and Keychain credential. A partial failure keeps the account blocked and provides a retry path.

Removal does not delete provider-side mail or exported attachments you saved outside Sutok. It also does not deactivate your Sutok license.

Revoke Google access

Google grant revocation is an optional, separate choice during account removal. Revoking can disconnect the same Google Account from Sutok on your other Macs. Local cleanup continues if online revocation fails or is cancelled.

You can review or revoke the grant later in Google Account permissions.

Full uninstall

Quit Sutok, delete the app bundle, then remove Sutok’s profile from [HOME_DIR]/Library/Application Support/sutok and logs from [HOME_DIR]/Library/Logs/sutok. If you used a custom database or named profile, remove that resolved location instead. In Keychain Access, remove remaining Sutok items if you did not first remove every Account in the app.

Deleting the app bundle alone leaves those locations untouched. A full uninstall also requires you to decide what to do with external backups and files you exported yourself.

Data outside Sutok's control

macOS controls Notification Center history. You can clear Sutok notifications there. Exported files, external backups, and provider-side mail are controlled by you, macOS, the backup system, or your mail provider; Sutok cannot erase those copies remotely.
